Chess pieces, especially those that are artist designed and hand carved, have fascinated me for many years, and so I accepted the challenge to design my own. I carved pink New Mexico travertine into pleasing chess-piece shapes, allowing that stone's lovely natural lines and cavities becoming part of the design. Then I sent my imagination into free flight with the application of various stones, sea shells, metals, wires, glass, etc. The results are as you see them. They were a delight to create and are a delight to see and enjoy.
