Butterfly Project

In the Spring of 2008 I was priviledged to be asked to decorate a 56 inch wingspan butterfly for the Butterflies and Friends Project. This is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Colorado Springs, CO, to raise money in support of the art program at Queen Palmer Elementary School. It was such a treat to work in color and to be able to create in the assemblage style of sculpture. Mark Harmon of All Coat Finishing powder coating company in Colorado Springs kindly donated his time and materials and worked with me to create the beautiful finish on the butterfly. The music theme is carried by the metal pieces suspended from the wings which chime against eachother in the breeze. Please go see it at the Cheyene Mountain Zoo and tell me what you think. My butterfly, 'Mariposa Music', along with thirty other creations will be auctioned on October 11 at a special party at the zoo.
